It has a number of meanings to diverse people, to some it is a career, talent or a source of entertainment. Music plays a significant responsibility in the life of a human being. People use music as a way to utilize their leisure time, express their feelings, educate people, and to preserve and embrace oneà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s culture. The various genres of music common today include Hip hop, R n B, Rock Jazz, pop, reggae and other cultural specific tunes. In the text below the author talks about how music applies and influences their life.My name is Mohammed born in Saudi Arabia and currently living in Canada. I was born in Saudi Arabia but grew up in Canada.Since childhood music was, and still is part of life. Growing up in the city caused exposure to different kinds of music all which see med interesting to listen to. A great love for different records and bands developed at the age of 7, which led to possessing a number of records from famous from The Beatles and the famous Elvis Presley. During that time, most of the teenagers loved listening to all kinds of rock. School was the major source of influence and that is where the love for music developed. In both junior and high school, it was common to find people huddled in groups over lunch break sharing and discussing music. At some point in high school, I joined a rock band as a bass drummer. Additionally, the immediate society also played a part in influencing music since some of the bands came from the capital, which encouraged many children to develop skills in music.As mentioned earlier, music plays different roles in the lives of people. If a person does not sing, he or she can either play an instrument or just listen to it. As I grew up, music remained part of life and love for other genres developed. While at the university, home or work I still listen to music. Music helps someone relax after a long day at school or work. Psychologists believe that music helps in revealing a personà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s inner thoughts and feelings. Scientific research, which applies in reality shows that people listen to music in order to improve individual performance while carrying out a task because it aids in drawing optimal attention and fight boredom. The second reason states that music stimulates intellectual thinking by building curiosity and causing one to gain critical analysis skills. Finally, it manipulates a personà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s desire to attain a certain mood state such as happiness or excitement.Currently, I still listen to rock music, hip hop and Jazz. These genres possess a wide range of subgenres, which mean different things. However, they all have a common aspect, which is entertainment and mood manipulation. Both hip hop and rock help in stimulating excitement while jazz helps in relaxing and soothing the mind. Some of the most treasured albums include Magical Mystery Tour by the Beatles and Blizzard of Ozz by Ozzy Osbourne. In addition to that, some of the concerts attended include the Magnetic Hill Concert, ACDC Concert and the Rise Against Setlist. I often still play the drum but not on a professional basis just leisure.Most artists try to mix both jazz and hip hop together, forming jazz-rap. The idea of racial differences divided, ranked and separated the human race from each other and justified the dominance of other ethnic elements. It brought up the idea and concept to assimilate other races to promote equality among different race and led to the development of the various models of assimilation.
